Varian Sells Off Product Lines
Palo Alto-based Varian said last night that it has inked a deal with Bruker Corporation and Agilent Technologies, where Bruker will acquire certain product lines of Varian. The firms said the move comes as an agreement by Agilent to divest those product lines, in connection with regulatory approval for Agilent's pending acquisition of Varian. The product lines involved include Varian's coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS)instruments business, laboratory gas chromatography (Lab GC) instruments business, and its gas chromatography triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry (GC-MS QQQ) instruments business. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
