Karmasphere Lands $5M
Los Gatos-based Karmasphere, a firm developing Apache Hadoop software for the desktop, said Thursday that it has raised $5M in a Series A funding round. The round came from Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and U.S. Venture Partners. Karmasphere said the funding will go to commercialize its software, which is used for analyzing very large data sets. As part of the funding, Ann Winblad of Hummer Winblad, and David Liddle of USVP will join the firm's board.
