VirnetX Gets $200M From Microsoft In Patent Case
Scotts Valley-based VirnetX Holding Corporation, the owner of a number of Internet security patents, and software giant Microsoft said today that Microsoft has agreed to pay $200M to VirnetX to settle a patent infringement lawsuit. VirnetX had sued Microsoft i the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in 2007 over a number of its Internet security patents. The firms said that both lawsuits will be dismissed as part of the settlement, and that Microsoft will take a license to the VirnetX patents for its products.
