Atmel Completes French Fab Sale
San Jose-based Atmel said today that it has completed the sale of its wafer fabrication operations in Rousset, France, to LFoundry GMBh. As part of the deal, Atmel's 750 employees employed at the fab will join LFoundry. The location manufactures Atmel's high performance ASIC, memory, and microcontroller devices. Atmel said it expects to record a loss on the sale of the operations not to exceed $110M.
