Metacafe said last week that it has acquired
Action Sports, the parent company of
Go211.com, an online site focused on action sports videos. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Metacafe said the buy will advance its efforts to attract 18- to 34-year old consumers. Go211.com provides live webcasts and video highlights of action sports events. Those events include, snow, skate, surf, and bike events. Metacafe said it will use Go211's catalog of action sports video to launch Metacafe Sports, a new part of its site; former Action Sports CEO Sean Aruda becomes Chief Revenue Officer at Metacafe, with other key members of Go211's team joining the firm. Metacafe said the new site will brings its reach to nearly 17.5M unique monthly U.S. viewers.
