Apple Computer has been sued by a New Jersey firm,
Multi-Format, Inc., over patents covering the sale and download of movies and videos on iTunes. According to the lawsuit, Multi-Format is seeking royalties from Apple. Multi-Format owns a patent covering Multi-Format Audio/Video Production Systems. Multi-Format appears to have been involved in prior intellectual property lawsuits; the firm had an earlier patent lawsuit filed against Harrah's Entertainment and Nice Systems, over PC-based systems for monitoring images from video cameras, which was settled out of court in 2008.
