Beceem Communications, a developer of 4G wireless semiconductors, has been acquired by
Broadcom, in a deal worth $316M in cash plus assumed options. Broadcom said it is acquiring Beceem for its 4G products and staff, saying the technology will accelerate its time-to-market for 4G products. Beceem's products support both LTE and WiMAX 4G networks. Beceem was backed by DoCoMo Capital, Global Catalyst Partners, Intel Capital, KTB Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Mitsui & Co., NEC, Samsung Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and Walden International, and had raised at least $127M in funding.
