Two similarly named startups in the home automation and security market, Palo Alto-based
iControl Networks and Austin-based
uControl, just announced Thursday afternoon that they have merged efforts. The two said that they will operated under the iControl name, and be headquartered in Palo Alto. Both iControl and uControl develop products which allow for energy, home security, and other automation management over broadband. iControl is venture backed by ADT, Charles River Ventures, Cisco, Comcast Interactive Capital, GE Security, Intel Capital and the Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers iFund, while uControl is funded by angel investors and other partners. No financial details of the merger were announced.
