General Electric said today that it, and its venture capital partners, have invested $55M in a number of companies developing products related to the power grid. GE said the investments--part of a $200M "GE ecomagination Challenge" included investments in San Francisco-based
Scientific Conservation, a developer of energy management systems and software; Burlingam-based
Sentinent Energy, a developer of intelligent sensor technology; Milpitas-based
Soladigm, a developer of electronically switched glass, and Folsom-based
SynapSense, a developer of wireless sensor networks for managing data center power and air conditioning. The four firms were part of a total of 12 projects to receive funding from GE and its partners. GE's venture partners are Emerald Technology Ventures, Foundation Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and RockPort Capital Partners.
