Trimble Buys OmniSTAR
Sunnyvale-based Trimble said today that it has acquired certain assets of the OmniSTAR Global Navigation Satellite System from Fugro N.V. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Trimble said it will use the acquisition to "significantly expand" its ability to provide correction services for land-based agriculture, construction, mapping, and Geographics Information Systems (GIS) and survey applications. OmniSTAR is a service which is used to correct GPS readings. The two said the deal does not include Fugro's offshore, marine business.
