Firespotter Labs, a firm headed by former Google Ventures Entrepreneur-in-Residence Craig Walker, as well as Google Voice engineers Brian Peterson and John Rector, and Alex Cornell, has raised $3M in a Series A funding round, the firm announced today. The round came from Google Ventures. According to Firespotter Labs, it will generate new ideas, build products, and launch independent companies from those ideas. Walker was the founder of GranCentral Communications, which Google acquired in 2007 to create Google Voice. Wesley Chan of Google Ventures joins the company's board as part of the funding.
