Mountain View-based Google said today that it has invested $55M in a wind power project in Tehachapi, California. The firm said it invested $55M in the Alta IV wind power project, which will produce 102 MW of power. The wind project is part of a larger energy complex, the Alta Wind Energy Center. Google said that Citi also invested in the project, which is a structured lease to Terra-Gen. The power will be sold to Southern California Edison. Google said in April that it had invested $100M in a different, wind power project in Oregon; the latest project brings its total invested in clean technology to more than $400M.
