JDSU Buys Solar Power IP From QuantaSol
Milpitas-based JDSU said today that it has acquired the critical product design, patents, and assets for a concentrated photovoltaic solar product line from QuantaSol, a CPV provider in the UK. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. JDSU said it will use the technology for its CPV cell product platform. QuantaSol's multiple quantum well (MQW) technology provides a higher efficiency of solar power conversion. JDSU said it expects to transfer key assets from QuantaSol to its Milpitas headquarters over the next six months.
