Xignite, a provider of financial data such as stock prices, commodity prices, and other financial information, said Tuesday that it has raised $10M in a Series B funding. The round came from StarVest Partners and former Merrill Lynch vice chairman John L. "Launny" Steffens. The investment also included Altos Ventures, Startup Ventures and Peter Caswell. The firm said the funding will go towards sales and marketing expansion. Xignite offers up APIs used by developers to pull up current and historical financial information, including data covering global equities, commodities, currencies, options, fixed income, mutual funds, derivatives and OTC instruments.
