Red Robot Labs Takes Down $8.5M
Palo Alto-based mobile gaming startup Red Robot Labs announced today that it has raised $8.5M in a funding round. The round was led by Benchmark Capital, and also included Shasta Ventures, Rick Thompson (Playdom), and Chamath Palihapitiya (Facebook). Red Robot Labs' first title is Life Is Crime, a location-based, massive multiplayer online mobile game, Life Is Crime, in which players collaborate and compete to commit virtual crimes at real locations. Mitch Lasky of Benchmark joins the firm's board as part of the funding.
