Own, the developer of a tablet-based, point-of-sale system, announced today that it has raised $1.2M in a seed funding round, and set up shop in San Francisco. The firm said the funding came from Detroit Venture Partners. Own Point of Sale was started in 2009 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Own provides a web-based, cash register and credit card reader which runs from a tablet PC. The firm is headed by Rajeev Viswanathan.
