Accel Partners said Tuesday that it has launched a venture capital firm, with $100M in funding, specifically targeted at "big data". The firm said the fund will invest in companies that are tackling "big data", ranging from storage and data magnement platforms, to software and services in the data analytics, mobile, and vertical application areas. Accel's fund tarets companies using Apache Hadoop and other cloud computing platforms, which have become the focus of enterprises looking to deal with massive amounts of business data. Accel has offices in Palo Alto, New York City, London, New Delhi and Bangalore, as well as in China.
