Flickr Turns To Aviary For Photo Editing
Flickr, the online photo sharing site owned by Yahoo, has switched in startup Aviary for its photo editing tools, replacing the functionality soon to be lost from the removal of Picnik from the site. The loss of Picnik came due to the acquisition--and shutdown--of Picnik by competitor Google. Google acquired Picnik in March of 2010, only to decided to completely shut down the photo editing tool and site in January of this year. Aviary is venture backed by Spark Capitol, Jeff Bezos, and Reid Hoffman, and is based in New York.
