Facebook, Microsoft In $550M Patent Deal
Menlo Park-based Facebook and Microsoft said today that the two are in a deal, where Microsoft will assign Facebook the rights to purchase a portion of the patents it recently acquired from AOL, for $550M in cash. The two said the deal gives Facebook ownership of approximately 650 AOL patents and patent applications, plus a license to AOL patents and applications that Microsoft will purchase and own.
