Silicon Valley Angels Pile Into Silvercar
A number of Silicon Valley angels are among the backers of a new startup, looking to transform the business of airport car rentals. Silvercar said it has raised $11.5M in a Series A round, with investors Austin Ventures, as well as Sillicon Valley investors Michael Arrington (via CrunchFund), Ron Conway (via SV Angel), Chris Dixon, and Dave Morin. The firm is developing a car rental service which uses a smartphone app to let users rent 2013 Audi A4's, with no lines and complete control over rentals using that app.
