Abengoa said this morning that the two are in a new, joint venture, to build a concetrating solar power complex in California. According to the two companies, they will jointly develop, build and operate the world's two largest solar power towers in California. The new towers will have 500 megawatts of generating capability, spit between two, 250MW concentrating solar power towers. The companies said that BrightSource will provide the solar field technology and plant design, and Abengoa will serve as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor, and will lead the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the plants once online. The new plant wil be based in Riverside County, California.
