Motif Lands $25M For Themed Investing
San Mateo-based Motif Investing, which develops an automated, one-click way for individuals to invest in "themed" investments, has raised $25M in a Series C funding, the firm disclosed today. The funding came from Goldman Sachs, and also included Foundation Capital, Ignition Partners, and Norwest Venture Partners. Motif's visual, online service lets users click to invest in different themes--"home improvement", "hot retail", "utility bills", and more in a visual way. The firm says its stock portfolios are analyzed and filtered around certain themes, and lets investors tailor their own portfolios around certain types of industries and themes.
