WePay Pockets $15M
Palo Alto-based payment platform provider WePay said this week that it has raised $15M in a Series C funding round. The round came from Phil Purcell of Continental Investors, who co-founded Discover Card. Other angels, including Max Levchin (PayPal), Maynard Webb (Yahoo), Raymond Tonsing, Highland Capital Partners, August Capital and Ignition Partners also participated. The company said the move comes as it moves away from the direct-to-consumer business towards a payments API specifically for businesses.
