Hortonworks, the developer of the open source, Hadoop data analysis software, has scored $50M in a strategic investment from HP, as part of the integration of Hadoop into HP's HAVEn big data platform. As part of the funding, HP adds EVP and CTO Martin Fink to its board of directors. Hortonworks' prior investors include Tenaya Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, Benchmark, Index Venturse, and Yahoo. The company is a spinout of Yahoo.
