Apple To Invest $848M In Solar Power Plant
Apple
said Tuesday that it will invest $848M in a solar power project in Monterey County. The project--being build by solar energy company First Solar--will provide 130 megawatts of power to supply all of Apple's power use in California. Apple is purchasing electricity from the plant via a 25-year, power purchase agreement (PPA). The remainder of the California Flats Solar Project will supply 150MW of power to Pacific Gas & Electric.
