SunPower, First Solar File IPO For 8Point3 Energy Partners
San Jose-based SunPower and Tempe, Arizona-based First Solar said this morning that the two have filed IPO registration documents for their limited partnership, 8point3 Energy Partners.
The partnership pools a large number of solar energy projects--totaling 432MW--from the two companies. The partnership will own, operate and acquire solar energy generation projects, and is being used by the two to help raise funding for those projects from investors, who are interested in the long term, predictable cash flows which results from the solar leases and PPAs of those energy generating assets.
