Diffbot, a developer of artificial intelligence, computer vision and natural language processing tools to interpret and understand web pages, has raised $500,000 in new funding, from Bloomberg Beta. The startup, let by Mike Tung, said the funding brings its total raised to $3.0M. Diffbot provides an API which lets developers better understand, monitor, and read web pages, taking unstructred data and turning them into structured information that can be more easily parsed and use. The new funding is part of its seed funding round, which also included Sky Dayton (Earthlink, Boingo) and Andy Bechtolsheim (Sun Microsystems), Joi Ito, Maynard Webb, and others.
