Google Creates New Company, Alphabet

Sergey Brin
, said on Monday that they are creating a new company,
Alphabet
, which will include not only Google--but a collection of other companies, which had been part of Google. According to Page, the new Google will be a "bit slimmed down", with the parts of Google which are "pretty far afield" of the Internet instead being contained in Alphabet. Those businesses in clude Google's life sciences efforts. Page said the split will allow it to better manage businesses which aren't related to Google's core search area.
