Shuddle Launches Family Carpooling Service
San Francisco-based Shuddle has launched its family carpool coordination service today, saying that it is looking to replace mom's minivan in providing rides to children. The startup--which raised $9.6M in March from RRE Ventures, Comcast Ventures, Forerunner Ventures, Accel Partners and angels--said it is looking to provide safe and reliable rides to help parents manage carpools. The new service helps coordinate carpool schedules, lets parents pick who gets to rideshare with their kids, and also calculates the safest and most efficient routes for those carpools. Shuddle says it provides a rigorous process of vetting its drivers, including extensive criminal background and DMV records checks, in-person interviews, and employer references.
