PayPal is the lead investor in a $30M, strategic round of funding for investment app developer
Acorns, the companies said today. Acorns raised the strategic funding from PayPal and Rakuten, to go towards its service, which rounds up purchase amounts on a user's debit and credit cards, and takes those differences and invests them in an exchange traded fund (ETF). Acorns is based in Newport Beach, California, and previously raised capital from Greycroft Partners, e.ventures Sound Ventures, Garland Capital, and MATH Venture Partners.
