Palo Alto-based
Orbital Insight, a developer of software which helps sort through satellite imaging data for insights, has raised $20M in a combined $15M, Series B funding round and a separately $5M equity investment from In-Q-Tel. The Series B funding was led by Google Ventures, and also included CME Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Lux Capital, and Bloomberg Beta. Orbital Insight's software is being used to automatically track things like how many cars are parked in a parking lot, estimating harvest yields, evaluating water supplies, and more, all based on satellite imaging and senseor data.
