PayPal, Mastercard Link On Point Of Purchase Expansion
In a move to help extend the reach of San Jose-based
PayPal
to the retail market, the company and
Mastercard
said today that they will expand a deal which makes Mastercard a payment option within PayPal, and also expands PayPal's presence at the point of sale. Among features of the new agreement is an option that lets PayPal users instantly cash out their fund into a Mastercard debit card, and also a deal which will remove a "digital wallet operator fee" which PayPal had been subject to as part of those debit cards. Financial details of the move were not announced.
