Yelp Buys Nowait For $40M
San Francisco-based restaurant and local business review site Yelp said Wednesday that it has acquired Nowait, a developer of restaurant software, used for wait listing and real time seating management. Yelp said it paid a total of $40M in cash for Nowait, including a partial stake which Yelp had acquired previously as part of a strategic investment. Nowait was based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was founded in 2010. The company's software replaces the use of those handheld buzzers and paper lists with a smartphone app.
