August Home, the startup developing "smart lock" products founded by Jason Johnson and Yves Behar, has been acquired by
ASSA ABLOY. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. August Home develops "smart" door locks and video doorbells. ASSA ABLOY said the deal will help it expand into video doorbells and strengthen its residential smart door strategy. August was venture backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Comcast Ventures, Maveron, Qualcomm Ventures, plus AGL, Liberty Mutual and SPDG. The company had raised $75M in total. ASSA ABLOY is the maker of the "Yale" brand of locks, among other products.
