Symantec Buys SurfEasy From Opera
Mountain View-based cybersecurity software developer Symantec said late Monday that it has acquired SurfEasy, a provider of virtual private network (VPN) services for smartphones. Symantec did not say how much it paid for SurfEasy, which will become part of its Consumer Business Unit. Symantec said SurfEasy already had been providing its technology under an OEM deal, where it powered Symantec's Norton WiFi Privacy product. SurfEasy had previously been owned by Opera Software.
