Ever wish you could return to the days of simple, dorm-style living--with no house or apartment to clean, no need to deal with utility bills, and lots of community events and companionship? San Francisco-based
Starcity is looking to bring that lifestyle back to even those already out of college, through new "community living" developments. The company revealed a Series A investment round of $16.45M this week, from such investors as Bullpen Capital, Y Combinator, Invest AG, and Alrai Capital. The company--which says it has now raised a total of $18.9M--already operates three properties around its dorm-like model, and already has nine more in development, with its flagship properties in West Soma, The Mission, and North Beach. The company's community costs start at $1675/month + $300 for its "all-inclusive" membership program.
