Trimble appears to be in an acquisitive mood this week, announcing late Monday that it has acquired
Viewpoint, a developer of construction management software, in an all cash deal worth $1.2 billion. Trimble acquired Viewpoint from Bain Capital. According to Trimble, Viewpoint will be "highly complementary" to its e-Builder business, and helps extend ability to provide more complete and integrated project, jobsite and business workflows to the construction industry. The acquisition is the second announced by Trimble this week: also yesterday, the company
announced the acquisition of Fabsuite, a developer of structural steel fabrication software.
