    Mainsail Partners Expands Team
    Private equity firm Mainsail Partners, which is based in San Francisco, said Thursday that it has expanded its operating team, adding Kathryn Cavanaugh as Vice President of Talent, Amy Corrieo as Controller, and Chris Cassidy as Operating Partner.     Zapier Lands $1.2M
    Y Combinator graduate Zapier said Thursday that it has raised a $1.2M, seed funding round, which came from Bessemer Venture Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvesten, along with angels.     First Round Capital Boosts San Francisco Presence
    Venture capital firm First Round Capital has bolstered its presence in San Francisco, saying that it has added Bill Trenchard as a partner in the location. Trenchard founded Jump Networks (acquired by Microsoft), had served at idealab, founded CallCast (which became LiveOps), and ReadyForce. First Round Capital said Trenchard already has led two unannounced investments for the fund.

    Advanced Cell Diagnostics Gains $12M
    Hayward-based Advanced Cell Diagnostics said this morning that it has raised $12M in a Series B funding round. The firm, which is developing automated tools for detecting and quantifying RNA biomarkers, said the round was led by New Leaf Venture Partners, and also included Morningside Ventures.
