    Google Launches New Venture Fund, Gradient Ventures
    Google announced on Tuesday afternoon that it has created a brand new, venture capital fund, called Gradient Ventures, which it says will invest in early-stage startups focused on artificial intelligence. Google said the fund will provide companies with capital, resources, and dedicated access to experts and bootcamps in AI, taking a minority stake in those startups.     Advanced Microgrid Solutions Gets $34M
    San Francisco-based Advanced Microgrid Solutions, a developer of energy storage and distributed energy projects, has raised $34M in a Series B funding round. The funding was led by Energy Impact Partners (EIP), and also included GE Ventures, AGL Energy Limited (AGL) and Macquarie Capital, plus former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. AMS is led by CEO Susan Kennedy. The company says it has now raised $52M in total.

    Blackhorn Ventures Gets $13M For First Venture Fund, Target At $25M
    Palo Alto- and Boulder, Colorado--based Blackhorn Ventures, a new venture capital fund, has raised $13M as part of its first fund, targeted at $25M, according to a regulatory filing by the company this week.     AutoLotto Picks Up $17M for Mobile Lottery App
    San Francisco-based AutoLotto, which develops an app and service which lets users play the Powerball using their mobile phone, has raised $17M in a Series A funding. The company says it has now raised a total of $19M in funding, from such investors as Adjacency Partners, plus angels Jason Port, VCs Bruce Gibney and Ben Narasin, Ryan Scott of Causecast, and Aurum Partners. AutoLotto's CEO is Tony DiMatteo.

    HyTrust Raises $36M, Acquires DataGravity
    Mountain View-based HyTrust, a developer of cloud security tools, said this morning that it has raised $36M in funding, and acquired DataGravity. The Series E funding was led by Advance Venture Partners (AVP), and also included prior investors Sway Ventures, Epic Ventures, Vanedge Capital and Trident Capital, along with Cisco, Fortinet, Intel Corp. and VMware.
