Sun Buys Q-layer

Santa Clara-based Sun Microsystems announced today that it has acquired Q-layer, a Belgium-based firm which develops software for deploying and managing cloud computing. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, however, Sun said that the transaction was not material to the firm. Q-layer develops software which is used to manage provisioning of servers, storage, and other products in virtualized datacenters. Sun said that Q-layer will become part of its Cloud Computing business unit.
