Quizlet Picks Up $12M For Teaching Tool

San Francisco-based Quizlet, the developer of an online tool that lets users create their own quizzes to help them with learning, has raised $12M in a Series A funding. The funding was led by Fred Wilson at Union Square Ventures and Greg Sands at Costanoa Venture Capital, and also included Owl Ventures, Altos Ventures, Geoff Ralston, Tim Brady, and Greg Brockman. Quizlet was created by Andrew Sutherland, who created the startup a high school student to help him study for a French class; Sutherland subsequently went to MIT, but dropped out to focus on Quizlet full time.
