Gynesonics Gains $75M

Redwood City-based Gynesonics, which develops intrauterine fibroid ablation systems, said on Thursday that it has raised $75M in a equity financing round. The funding was led by Bain Capital Life Sciences, and also included Abingworth, Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV), Endeavour Vision, HealthCrest, InterWest Partners, HBM Partners, Correlation Ventures and Hercules Technology Growth Capital. Jeffrey Schwartz of Bain Capital Life Sciences will join the company's board as a result of the funding. The company said the funding wil go towards commercialization of its products, plus clinical research and market development.
