Pearl Therapeutics Raises $15.5M
Redwood City-based Pearl Therapeutics, a company developing treatments for respiratory disorders, said Thursday that it has raised $15.5M in a first round of venture capital funding. Funding came from New Leaf Ventures and Clarus Ventures, which led the round, along with 5AM Ventures. Kathleen LaPorte of New Leaf, Nicholas Simon of Clarus, and James W. Young of 5AM Ventures have joined the firm's board as part of the funding. Pearl is commercializing particle technologies from Nektar Therapeutics, which the company said will be used for treatment or prevention of airway diseases.
