Santa Clara-based McAfee said Monday that it has agreed to acquire SafeBoot B.V., a provider of enterprise security software, for $350M in cash. SafeBoot B.V. develops encryption software used for protecting data on laptops, mobile phones and other platforms. According to McAfee, SafeBoot will become part of a new Data Protection product business unit, which will be headed by SafeBoot head Gerhard Watzinger. SafeBoot's products are used to encrypt smart phones, USB drives, PDAs, and laptops.
