Nanosolar Takes $50M In Photovoltaic Deal
Palo Alto-based NanoSolar has gained $50M in a strategic investment from EDF Energies Nouvelles, a French-based green electricity producer, EDF said Tuesday. The funding came as part of a photovoltaic panel supply agreement with Nanosolar, which will provide solar panels to EDF Energies Nouvelles from 2009 onwards. EDF Energies Nouvelles is a provider of green electricity in both Europe and the United States; the firm said the deal enables it to secure a supply of panels at competitive prices. NanoSolar manufactures Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide (CIGS) based solar panels based on its own printing technology.
