Venture capital firm Battery Ventures said this week that it has hired on a new partner to support its investments in India. The firm said that it has added Gautam Patel to its Indian investment team, although Patel will initially be based in the firm's Menlo Park offices. Patel joins from IT services firm iGate, and has served at Mphasis, 3Genesis, Indocean Chase Capital partners, Lazard Freres, and Smith Barney. Battery has been investing in India since 2004. Battery said that Patel will eventually move to its Mumbai offices in the second half of the year.
