Yahoo! Takes On Lottery Spam
Sunnyvale-based Yahoo! said today that it has filed a lawsuit against "lottery" spammers which have been sending e-mails to Internet users telling them they have won a lottery or prize from Yahoo!. The firm said the lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Names of the defendants were not announced. Yahoo! said the lawsuit was filed under the Federal Trademark Act, the Federal CAN-SPAM Act, and related state laws.
