Sunnyvale-based Finisar said Thursday that it has spun out its NetWisdom business, a product line used for monitoring and analysis of storage area networks. According to Finisar, it has spun off certain assets of its Network Tools business associated with the product to an investment group of storage and software veterans. Financial terms of the spinoff were not disclosed. The new company will be headed by Mark Urdahl, co-founder of the Fibre Channel Systms Initiative, Jim Davidson of Silver Lake Partners, and Steve Mankoff of Siebel Systems. Finisar said it will retain a minority stake in the new firm.
