Phoenix Technologies Completes General Software Buy
Milipitas-based Phoenix Technologies, which develops embedded software code, said Tuesday that it has completed its acquisition of General Software, a Bellevue, Washington-based firm that develops BIOS code. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Phoenix had said it was buying General Software in July. Phoenix Technologies said the buy extends the reach of Phoenix to devices that use embedded processors. General Software develops BIOS code, the low-level embedded software code used in devices and PCs for initial bootup, before handoff to an operating system and applications.
