Redwood City-based Trion World Network, which publishes online games, announced today that it has raised $70M in a Series C funding. According to the firm, the round was led by Act II Capital, and included prior investors DCM, Trinity Ventures, Rustic Canyon Partners, Time Warner, Peacock Equity, and Bertelsmann. The new round brings the company's total raised to more than $100M. According to Trion, it has two titles in development, including a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Jon Van Caneghem, and another massively multiplyer online game being co-developed with NBC Universal's SCI FI Channel.
